Installing and Configuring MacTCP

Follow the instructions in this section if you have System 7.5 or older and the MacTCP Control Panel.

Note:
CSD Internet does not bundle MacTCP with our internet starter disk. It is bundled with System 7.5, but it is not included in older versions of MacOS. If you do not have a copy of MacTCP or Open Transport, we suggest you purchase Adam Engst's Internet Starter Kit for the Macintosh. It includes MacTCP, and is an excellent text in its own right. You may also purchase MacTCP directly from your local software reseller.

Step 1: Copy system files

Copy MacTCP to the Control Panels folder (if it is not already there)
Copy ConfigPPP to the Control Panels folder
Copy PPP to the Extensions folder
Restart your Macintosh

Step 2: Configure everything Click here for image

Open the MacTCP control panel - you should have version 2.04 or newer
Set the IP address to: 0.0.0.0
Select the PPP icon
Click the more... button
Set the class slider to: C
Set Obtain Address to: Server
In the Domain and IP address sections, put csd.net and 204.181.152.51, respectively.
Fill in a second Domain and IP - csd.net and 204.181.152.140.
Close MacTCP

Your MacTCP is now configured! If you haven't configured FreePPP yet, see:
