Intel Pro 2100 DSL Modem Setup

1. First, follow the hardware installation instructions that came with the modem. After the modem is installed, turn the computer on and install the Intel Pro 2100 CD. Windows will detect the modem and start an installation wizard. Left click the "Next" button.

2. Choose "Search for the best driver for your device" and Left click on the "Next" button.

3. Put a checkmark next to CD-ROM drive (the Intel CD should already be in) and left click the "Next" button.

4. It will find the correct driver on the CD. Then left click the "Next" button.

5. Windows will install the driver. Then left click the "Finish" button.

6. The computer will now boot into Windows and automatically open the Intel Pro 2100 setup software. Left click the "Next" button.

7. The window asks for the ISP name and phone number. Enter the appropriate information, then left click the "Next" button.

ISP Name: CSD
ISP Technical Support Phone Number: 303.444.1671

8. The next window asks for an ISP Information worksheet. Left click on the "Next" button.

9. This screen asks for the type of connection. Choose "Point to Point Protocol (PPP)" and left click the "Next" button.

10. To set the modem to PPP mode, the computer needs to restart. Left Click the "Restart" button.

11. The computer will reboot, set the modem to PPP mode, then it will ask to reboot again. Left Click Yes. After this, it will boot into Windows normally and start the last step of the installation process. It first asks for the IP address. Choose "Server assigned IP address (dynamic)" and left click on the "Next" button.

12. After it restarts, the setup window will open back up. Now it needs to know our Name Server or DNS address. Choose "Server assigned name server addresses (dynamic)" and left click on the "Next" button.

13. Now left click on the "Finish" button.

14. The modem will now run 3 diagnostic tests to make sure the modem is set up correctly. If it passes all 3 diagnostic tests, there should be no problems connecting. If it fails one or more times, the user will not be able to connect.

15. There will now be a new icon on the customer’s desktop called "USWest megabit Services" or "QWest DSL Services." This is what the user will use to connect to the Internet.

16. Double left click the connection icon and enter your username and password. Do not put "@csd.net" or "@boulder.net" after the username. Use only lowercase letters. (Note that the dial-up number should be "1,1" or "0,32". The modem does not actually dial this number on the phone line. "1,1" and "0,32" are commands to the modem, which tells it to connect to the Internet.) If the user is unable to connect, follow the DSL troubleshooting steps in the Common Problems list.
