Cisco 675 DSL Router
1. First, follow the hardware installation instructions that came with
the modem. You must attach the management cable to the modem. This cable
should also be plugged in to serial port 1 on the back of the computer.
Serial port 2 will usually not work. If you have problems with this
or are unfamiliar with their hardware setup, refer to the hardware manufacturer.
2. After the cable is attached, turn the computer on and install the
Cisco Commander CD. If it doesn’t automatically start the setup, double
left click on "My Computer", and then double left click on the "D:\"
icon. (Where D refers to the letter of the CD-ROM drive. Double left
click on the "Setup" icon.

3. Click on the "Next" button.

4. This screen describes some known issues with the Commander software.
Left click on the "Next" button.

5. Put a checkmark in both boxes and left click the "Finish" button.

6. It now will ask for a system password. Do not type a password—Left
click "OK". If this doesn’t work, you need to remember what the password
is. If you don’t know the password, you will need to call Qwest.
7. The Commander software is now installed and running. Look down near
the clock and you will see a new icon in the system tray.

8. To edit the settings in the Commander software, right-click this
icon and choose Commander.

9. Left click once on the "Device" tab.

10. Choose "Set PPP Password." Type in the CSD username and password.
Do not type "@csd.net" or "@boulder.net" after the username. Use
only lowercase letters. Left click once on "OK".

11. This should allow the user to open a browser window and use the
Internet. If not, continue with the next steps.
12. When a Cisco 675 modem is sent to you from Qwest, it ships in either
Bridging or PPP mode. To check this, look on the bottom of the modem.
It will say "Cisco 675" followed by the mode it was shipped in. If shipped
in bridging mode, you must set it to PPP. Do the following:
13. Left click once on the "Start" button, go to Programs, then Accessories
then Communications, and then left click on the "HyperTerminal" selection.

14. If present, select Cisco and skip to step 18.

15. If Cisco is not present, select Hypertrm.

16. You must now set up the connection to the Cisco. For "Connect using",
choose "Direct to Com1" and left Click OK.

17. You must now configure the settings for the connection. Choose the
following:
a. Bits per second: 38400
b. Data Bits: 8
c. Parity: None
d. Stop Bits: 1
e. Flow control: None
f. Now left click the "OK" button.

18. This will open a HyperTerminal window, which lets you type commands
to the Cisco. Press the "Enter" button on your keyboard twice. You will
then see the cbos> prompt. Press enter, then type:
enable
*This will ask for a password. Do not type a password—Press the "Enter"
button. If this doesn’t work, then you will need to remember the password.
If you can’t remember the password, refer to Qwest.*
19. If there are no problems, continue. The prompt will change to cbos#.
Type the following and after each line press Enter:
set nvram erase
write
reboot
20. When you see cbos> Type the following:
enable
*(It will now ask for a password. See above)*
set ppp wan0-0 ipcp 0.0.0.0
set ppp wan0-0 dns 0.0.0.0
set ppp wan0-0 login USERNAME
set ppp wan0-0 password PASSWORD
set ppp restart enabled
set web port 2000
set web disabled
set dhcp server enabled
set nat enabled
set
snmp disabled
write
reboot
21. You should now be able to open a browser window and use the Internet.
