Dialup Plan Explanations

Unmetered Access

The so-called "Unlimited" plans all incorporate timeouts on access. What sets us apart is that we offer both "Unlimited" (though we rightfully call it unmetered, a more accurate term) and limited plans. With "unlimited" access, all providers define a maximum idle time (in some cases as short as 3 minutes) and a maximum session time (both usually buried in the fine print) to keep customers from continually camping out on a line and using that connection for business or other purposes. In our case our lines are set to disconnect you after 30 minutes of inactivity, and hangup on you after 8 hours of continual connect time. With CSD, as with other providers, our Terms and Conditions specifically prohibits the use of software applications that are designed to simulate activity on a connection for the sole intent of maintaining an active connection. This plan is only available with credit card billing and the clients account may be terminated without warning or notice if abused.

You can use either PPP, SLIP, or Shell services at any time. We use exclusively Multitech V.90/K56flex MT5634HD16 modems on our digital lines, and Multitech 33.6k 2834BR modems on our analog lines. Our primary modem lines are connected to Qwest digital circuits at our POP in Boulder. Our digital lines support both the V.90 and K56Flex technologies!

This is so that you can test the dialup connection and make sure it works ok for you without having to worry about the initial $5 charge.

DNS Hosting

Need to reserve a domain name for e-mail only? - $10/setup, $5/month.

Disk Usage / other charges
Up to 10MB free - $.25 per month per MB thereafter, measured by average usage. Email messages are not limited to file size, however since disks do have a physical limitation we reserve the right to delete any mail file that exceeds 100Mb in size, if that file creates a problem on our system. Scratch space is available.

Static IP addresses are available for an additional $10/month.
